Why dont they put modems in laptops any more?
First off, they do..
read this PDF (its about 430kb so it make take you 10 minutes to load on your AMAZING dialup)
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/HP_EliteBook_8470p_datasheet.pdf
find the line that says
Communications: (vPro), 56K v.92 modem (optional)
I really hope you are not serious with this question...
"the internal makings of the Acer/Gateway and HP and anything with the new Windows 8 doesn't have the innerds in the computer or laptop to allow any external modem"
do you have any idea how stupid you sound? Where are you getting this information from? All you need is a USB port..
I strongly feel that your brain doesn't have the "inners" to support logic. I truly feel sorry for you. You have posted the dumbest question ever to exist on the internet.
"growing needs of dialup use in America"
where are you getting this information from? Do you realize that 1 in every 3 cellphone owners have smart phones, most of which are capable of wireless tethering?
Let me show you how to use math, logic and google to not look like a total idiot when you ask a question......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_broadband_Internet_subscriptions#Countries_by_number_of_broadband_Internet_users
The above link says there are
81,744,000 broadband subscriptions in the US
The average US household according to a quick google is 2.6
81744000 * 2.6 = 212534400 internet users.
population of u.s according to google is ~308745538
thus 68.8% of the US has broadband.
even of the other 31.2% of the US population used dialup, it still wouldn't be worth it for manufactures to continue installing hardware that the majority of its customers WON'T use.
With that being said, you are an idiot and someone needs to take the internet away from you and limit your ability to interact with the rest of the world.
Q: If someone from the 1920s suddenly appeared today, what would he the most difficult thing to explain to them about life today?
A: I possess a device, in my pocket, which is capable of accessing the entirety of information known to man. I use it to look at funny pictures and get in arguments with strangers.
