Hp is definitely the best value and I'm certain that you can spend well under your $5000 budget and still make out with a top of the line notebook.

You want to spend the entire 5000 on a laptop?

Really you can get some VERY good laptops in the $1200-1500 range. Why spend it all when you don't need to?

If you want to spend it all, then you are probably going to want to go with Alienware or Falcon Northwest.

Ideally, you should have told us what you want to use the laptop for primarily. That way we could steer you in the right direction.

Well I have a HP Pavilion laptop. Its really good and fast (AMD Turion X2 2.2Ghz, 2.0Gb RAM, 320Gb HDD 17" Screen, 128Mb GeForce 8400MGS) and not all that expensive (£699.99 or about $1400) you can get a lot cheaper but that will mean you will get less...

The best thing for me is that the much criticized Windows Vista runs perfectly and it has an in built webcam and microphone which comes will all of them, even the cheap models. Mine and the more expensive ones also have a TV tuner which is very good as I want to go to University and this means I will not have to buy a TV!!!

I have the DV9000 model, if you get a HP laptop this is the best value!!!

Look on the PC World website for more!!!

Hi, i've been a technology consultant for over six years and would love to assist you with you're query.

While $5000 is an exceptional budget for a Laptop, we shouldn't underestimate todays unfathomable technology. A very good laptop can be procured at $1500, however there are laptops that are priced at $7000 plus too.

I would refer to a site called pcmag.com, all they do is evaluate computer equipment. Try also going to consumerreports.org for some great advice. After you’ve chosen one you think you’d like go to a site called epinions.com for some great user reviews. I would use them, even over the masses, as everyone has a different opinion. Although I find you can spot trends with epinions.com and narrow down some good products that way. Go to froogle.com for some great prices, I use it often. Below are a couple of articles I found that you might find interesting, good luck!

I suggest you get the new Mac Book pro- 15in, 2.5- 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo... after you customize it with the best upgrades and necessary applications, your total will approximately come upto $3,600.

Macs are the latest in technology and there is sooo much you can do with them.... so i suggest you get this.

Buy either Alienware or Macbook Pro, best computers out on the market. You can customize them to fit your best needs without buying crap you dont need. Both of them very fast and reliable.
