Ok, I can not, I just can NOT UPDATE ANYTHING!! I can't even access the screens required to reset, and when I go to the toshiba service station I get errors. I can't even factory reset, restore, refresh, NOTHING! My computer won't even automatically update like it would normally. I am just a very upset and frustrated teen, who needs her laptop for her overly college like ib high school. Any help at all would be appreciated. At first there wasn't a problem with it and I thought it'd fix/update when ever. But its been a very long time and windows basically turns to **** when you don't update. I've been to forums, tech websites, toshiba websites, everywhere and no one can help me. My computer is not under warrenty anymore to my knowledge and I didn't want charges to the phone bill that I don't pay for. I really need some help. I tried going in through the hold power etc method, but all I got were messages about my drivers being locked and a partition thing. Normally I can figure this chiz out but ugh! I'm 99.9 percent sure I don't have a virus seeing as I have virus protection software. I am able to download things and function on my computer at a snails pace. Nothing in the on screen update and recovery settings load AT ALL. Please help. I need my computer for school

First thing to try is to restart in safe mode and see if you still have the same problems. If the system works better (safe mode will still be slower than normal) then you have malware. Anti-virus software does not catch everything. Three things to try are Advanced system care from Iobit.com (go to a different computer and download the stand-alone version onto a flash drive). If you can load programs try the free versions of both malwarebytes and superantispyware.

You provide no information as to what errors are occurring: what happens when you try to do a Windows Update? What happens when you try to implement a factory restore? Provide the EXACT error messages when you do the different things you have tried and we can probably provide some insight.

If you do not need any files from the machine.

Boot up to safemode dos, f11 and choice i THINK

When at dos prompt, fdisk, remove partition. Add partition back, exit back to c prompt.

at prompt, type format c:

let this finish, when its done, put your Restore disk into the cd-rom, and power the system off. leave it off about a minute, turn it back on and it SHOULD re-install clean. IF it doesnt, your going to have to somehow select the boot order device, function key ??? on your machine. Good luck
