I used ATI for years then switch to Nvidia for a few years, I perf Nvidia but I cant tell the difference. It all comes down to personal perf and personal experience.

I prefer Nvidia because from my experience, they have far less driver issue. However, this is matter of opinion really, as I know people who use ATI cards (called AMD now) and they have no issues.
