Your hard drive is failing and you will need to replace it. The problem however is that you will need to reinstall Windows, and this is difficult if you don't have a Windows CD or if your Vaio didnt come with a system restore CD. Typically you would need to acquire an 'OEM edition' Windows CD and install it (because OEM product keys do not work with retail copies of Windows), and then use the product key that should be printed on a sticker that came with your laptop. You could also buy copy of Windows and install that if you can't get your hands on an OEM disk of Windows that matches your old version (e.g. Windows 7), but it might even be worth trying a flavor of linux like Ubuntu and if you know someone who is a computer geek, you can ask him to make you an Ubuntu CD which costs nothing.

Hard Drive failure. Copy your files to another hard drive OR burn them to DVD before you loose everything. Probably the motor which spins the hard drive or the power controller which controls the motor is failing and the computer is detecting this as a voltage spike or something.
