Laptop with Windows 7 Starter stopped recognizing foreign and special characters?

Question

So I'm using an Acer Aspire One AO751H (ZA3) netbook, and I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Starter. For about a few weeks, my laptop could still recognize special characters (like Japanese, Korean etc. characters, even the ones in the character map), and just today, it suddenly displayed all special characters as those blank squares that sorta look like this -----> []

Please help. :(

read the section on using and changing the language settings.

You should seriously invest in a real copy of Windows 7. This may fix the problem right there.
