Hi there!

How does this DELL Inspiron seem for basic use as well as multi media use (music players/video/photoshop)

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) edit
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Home edit
DISPLAY High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch display (1680x1050) edit
VIDEO CARD Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 edit
MEMORY 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz edit
HARD DRIVE Size: 320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) edit
INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive) edit
WIRELESS NETWORK CARDS Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card edit
INTEGRATED WEBCAM Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam edit
BATTERY OPTIONS 9-cell Primary Battery and 9-cell additional Lithium Ion Battery edit
SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0

I think the video/graphics is probably on the low end but I would not be using it for gaming I guess.

Thanks!

neat configuration

now make it practical too

why are you paying for 4 gb ram on a 32 bit operating system, when 3 to 3.2 gb is about the outer limits of what your system can see and use

so stick to 3 gb ram & NOT 4 gb ... just a waste of money that

http://www.vistaclues.com/reader-question-32-bit-vista-memory-limits/

and with that saving see if you can get something better, like the T9300 processor., no , it's not the higher clock speeds but the L2 cache is double at 6 mb

or a 8400m gs graphics card

... i mean something which is useful, & not down the drain

ooops, just checking on the inspirion 1520 i find that the nvidia 8400m gs & the 8600m gt options have vanished., also no 9300 option ... perfect ... just save your $50 for now

another option i would like you to consider > dell vostro 1500

checkout which of them is cheaper for same to same build

t7500 in place of t8300 ... the t8300 is not ahead by a long margin., besides > it offers discrete graphics

most other features are pretty similar

excepting that the vostro is not flashy as the inspirion

feel free if you need fine tuning & all the best on your new system

Well as you already guess it should last longer than 20 minutes. It should last at least 2 hours providing you do not anything that powers on all the time, like your DVD disk or a USB connection. Certainly 20 minutes si not right. I suggest run the batttery right down, then connect to a main and load for at least 10 hours without using your laptop. You may have to do this process several times. Each time the battery should last longer than the previous. If this does not work, the battery is faulty, as it does not charge properly.

Besides the graphics, you pretty much have a top notch computer.

It has a fast processor, big RAM size, a good amount of hard drive space, a good screen resolution, a good wireless card, enough battery life to last you through a plane ride from California to New York (depending on usage), etc.

If you're not using it for gaming, I say get it.

Good luck.

i have a dell and i love it. i use it for online stuff, like games online, email, music and pictures. it is a nice computer. i liked it mostly because you can customize color, memory sound cards and batteries. also they always have those deals, sometimes $200 off a computer and sometimes they have deals on mice and stuff.
