Sounds like a corrupt update.

Boot from the restore dvd and run disc utility. Repair permissions and verify disc, then reboot.

Couple of things you can try...

First, attempt to reset the PRAM - do this by holding down Option+Command+P+R before the gray screen appears during boot. Hold them down until the system reboots on its own (fairly quickly after the first chime).

If that doesn't work, boot into Safe Mode by holding down the shift key until the boot process has completed. If it reboots again while holding down the shift key you'll need to get more creative.

Last resort would be to boot into Single User Mode. Do this by holding down Command+S key during boot. This will take you to a full screen Command Line Interface (CLI). Once there you should be at a command prompt that looks like this:

:/root#

If not, hit Enter once and you should be there.

Type fsck -fy and hit enter and wait.

If there are modifications made in the file system, run it one more time and wait. After that you can type "Exit" or "Reboot NOW."

Try these steps 1) Try turning it on not plugged into the power 2) Remove the battery and plug in the power and see if it turns on Press the power button on the battery to see if any lights come on. If lights come on and the macbook isnt turning with the powerplug or the battery it could be the button, it could be something more serious. If the computer was running to hot it wont turn on until it cools down too. Also try holding the power button down for 10 seconds then wait a couple seconds and then try and turn it on again. The computer could be locked up in sleep mode.

load the restore disks into the drive and reboot the computer and as it is booting press the C key this boots from the disk instead of the hard drive
