If you want to look professional and have great and well . . . professional apps then go for a mac. If your no good with computers and need something easy to work with go for a mac. If you don't have the money for an anti-virus and just don't want to get any viruses also go for a mac. If you want to get hated by millions of pc fan boys also go for a mac. (then you can laugh in there faces because you know there just jealous ;) If you want some thing beautifully designed again . . . go for a mac. I could go on and on but basically what I want to say is go for a mac. :)

Just kidding because even though pretty much everything is true. That macs are easy to work with, professional, rarely get viruses, you'll get hated on (but thats the case no matter what) and there beautifully designed, a computer is a computer and PC's have there advantages. I have both and even though I love my mac most a PC is always useful. Plus I imagine you only want a computer for surfing the net and keeping stuff on or making school documents and a PC does the job for way less money. Just go with your budget :)

Beware you will get many answers with no real information beyond "mac's are crap" or "pc's are stupid".

Logically they both do a similar job. They both provide access to plenty of software and functions. The biggest differences however are as follows:

Mac's are frequently more reliable. This is not because they are built better, or because they have a better operating system, but because they are quite simply all the same. Apple control the hardware; all Macbook Model X's are the same. PC's however vary, the likelihood that you will have the exact same hardware setup as another user is minimal. This variation means that if you have an incompatibility or issue resolving it is far more complicated.

That's not to say it's overly complicated with a PC. In fact you're more likely to find that the support for PC users is beyond that for Mac. I'm speaking of course about third-party support; hoping to get any help from either Apple or Microsoft will be minimal and expensive.

If you're after more options, more choice, and to be honest more software- I'd say get a PC. Mac's are ok, don't get me wrong, but given the choice of the 2 I'd prefer a Windows OS (if not a Linux OS). These options are only available for PC's. That's technically not true as many Linux Distro's are available for Mac's; and Apple's Bootcamp does allow Windows to be installed on a Mac (although with some limitations).

If you're not planning on running Linux, or dual booting anything, then the OS choice really is OSX vs Windows. In this battle I'd argue Windows; and that's not because OSX is poor or lacking; just because I find Windows to be more customizable and far more supported by games, and many software providers.

To conclude; get a PC, but not because there's anything wrong with Mac's, but because a PC will be more customizable, more personal, and have a wider array of software available.

okay so my family has always been pro pc and anti mac. all my life ive had to deal with virsuses attacking the computer and crashes. last year I got a used macbook and I have not had a single virus or crash. need to say I will never look back. I got enough money for gradution so I will be upgrading to a mabook pro and im super excited. first of all a mac is as personal as you want it to be I hate when people say its not. pcs are good computers, until they crash. besides if something goes wrong woth you mac just walk ito an apple store and they will fix it right up. a couple months ago my screen went all wiggy and I just gave it to apple and BAM! all better. its worth the extra cash. so I vote mac:)

MacOS is definitely the superior operating system, but alot of this decision hinges on how much money you're willing to spend. No matter which way you look at it, apple charges you alot for their hardware.

I'm still a PC guy, but if you have the money for a mac, and prefer the OS, they're quality machines
