When you 1st get it you plug it in and let the battery charge for fully (3-4) hours if thats necessary and then you leave it plugged in FOREVER. Ive had this sony laptop for 18 months and the only time i unplugged it was to move house. When its plugged into the wall its not using the battery as a power supply it using the mains, plugging it into the wall supplies the power while recharging the battery if you used the laptop (unplugged) like you took it out of the house. Using the laptop unplugged, the battery becomes the temporary power source and so using your laptop like this alot will smoke the battery in 1-3 years depending on the laptop size. For if you use it unplugged the battery icon on the taskbar might say 'battery 79% ac adapter: unplugged" then you get back to the house and plug it in and it will say 'battery 79% ac adapter: plugged in or charging' and after an hour or so of being plugged in the battery will return to 100% health. But if you make a habit of using the laptop unplugged the battery life will deteriorate rapidly and youll never get the battery life back to 100%. So to avoid this the best advice is to keep your laptop plugged in at the wall, there is certainly no detreiment to teh computers health in doing this, when the screensaver comes on and the computers idling it uses barely any power, but if your not going to use it for a few hours just hold ctl -alt -del and click turn computer off, Do not unplug it =)

Hello i would not leave it on because it could damage the battery in the laptop as they are not designed for long use unlike desktop computers if you do this then after a few months you will most likely find that the battery will only last 10 - 20 minutes at the most.

Hope this helps :)

It doesn't really matter, I turn my PC on in the day and turn it off at night.

It's perfectly fine whatever you do. It wont damage the laptop's battery either, no matter how many months you keep it on.

I leave my laptop plugged in almost 24/7, and I've had it for years. You're fine, don't worry.
