I recently purchased a Dell laptop. About a week an a half ago. It was working fine but now the C drive says its full. I have no pictures no videos. I have not downloaded anything onto my laptop. I did the disk clean up and that didn't do anything. What should I do to free up space? I have no idea since its a brand new laptop with only 5 programs on the control panel removal part. Please help with this. THank you.

If its 'brand new' - take it back to the shop under your warranty - don't mess with it. It sounds to me like its been sold 'before' and that person has 'loaded it up' and returned it to the shop for some reason or its a faulty unit - if your post is correct about 'you not' adding/installing anything on it.

Let the shop/store sort it all out. If you bought it s/hand your on your own with it. If it is s/hand all you can do is as has been suggested - do a clean/clear-out - transfer files from 'C' drive to 'D' drive - but 'not' the OS file.

Your C: drive has most probably been compromised. If you have the re-install CD/DVD, I would suggest you reformat the drive and reload the operating system as it was delivered to you from Dell. If you should have any problems or do not know how to do this, contact Dell support and they will gladly help you restore your new laptop to as new as bought status, or they will send a technician to do it for you if your warranty covers this.

How much space is there left on the drive?

If you have not installed any programs or downloaded any video or sound files, it can't just fill itself up like that.

http://www.ccleaner.com might clean it up a bit. Choose all options on the 2nd tap. First run might take a while.

ok first double click my computer to open your devices

then right click on your hdd then properties

it depends on your operating system how much windows will take up on the hdd

i. e if it is windows xp it will take up about 5 gigs whereas windows 7 takes about 15 gigs

now if you have a 20 gig hdd and windows 7 that only leaves 5 gigs of space

another suggestion is to scan your drive for viruses if you have norton PLEASE! remove it

norton is a resource hog and has ruined many a computer experience

get avira antivirus much better and its free (red umbrella)

i have never seen anything like this and it sounds stressful. You can search on google there may be an answer.I suggest to check your C drive for any weird files (without deleting stuff) and be carefull on which programs you install.Get a good AV (anti virus) like bit defender,nod32,vipre (dont use mcAfee or norton ) SEARCH ON GOOGLE IT IS REALLY HELPFUL
