About 1 year ago, I bought Windows XP Pro, installed it on my 5 year old home desktop pc (A Compaq Presario that was running Windows ME).
Now I want to buy a Toshiba laptop, either 15" or 17" screen. While shopping online and in stores I was hoping to find one with Windows XP Pro already installed....but they are almost impossible to find. Most have Windows XP Media Edition 2005

So can I buy a Toshiba laptop, bring it home and install my Windows XP Pro on it (which I have already installed on my home desktop ?

supposed one PC goes only with one authenticate window XP Pro. in simpler word, one copy of window per PC. it's all about licensed.

that's charity followed by piracy

charity > u pay for win xp media centre 2005 & destroy it

piracy > u install win xp-pro on compaq presario - which is licenced., u'r license terms ends. if u were to install the xp-pro on another pc, u cannot license it & hence piracy

u have rights for only 1 pc, no more !

unless it's specifically multi user., which i presume it's not

< why the heck do u need xp-pro for

& if u NEED it after all, u can pay extra for win xp-pro over win xp media centre ! >

Yes you can install XP Pro but why would you want to ?? If you are going to run the same Key on it as the other machine then you are going to run into problems and you only have 1 license to use that version..

If that is your only concern, Xp home edition and Media Center can be easily networked with XP pro.

You constructive can setting up it, yet i'm unsure whether it incredibly is criminal, besides the indisputable fact that your different computing device is broke. So it is going to no longer be a situation. in simple terms setting up it incredibly is you oftentimes might with the living house windows XP disc, folowing the onscreen classes. whilst the computing device restars after the DOS blue show setting up, pass away the disc in as usuall, it is going to nevertheless be setting up archives, quickly it is going to ask you for a product key. Use the biggest that got here with your computing device, or inspect the certifacte of authtenicty, it incredibly is a small sticky label on the fringe of any computing device. inspect and use that variety, if the sticky label fits your working device ex. living house windows XP living house version. whilst that is carried out setting up, it's time to change on it, you will possibly be able to desire to objective activiating it on the internet, yet...it could no longer paintings, you will might desire to attempt telephone activation, if the automated provider does not paintings, you would be transfered to a individual, in simple terms misinform them approximately why your reinstalling living house windows, "my computing device screwed up, and that i in simple terms reformatted my perplexing force" or something like that. There you pass, situation solved!!!
