2 possibilities. Either the software might be corrupted...a common result of virus attack...or the hard drive may have failed. Same error message for both conditions. Try "repairing" the software using your operating system disc. If that fails during the atempt, your hard drive is probably bad and needs to be replace. If you don't know how to "repair" using the operating sytem disc, take the computer to a reputable shop for repair. The process is too risky to try at home...you could loose all of your data.

well sounds like the hard drive failed to me.or need to redo windows. depends on error and what you see. or hear.do you hear the drive spinning when you turn it on?.
