I have no idea how to fix it, unfortunately. Just tell her (honestly) what happened and all should go well. She shouldn't kill you if you were just sitting there and suddenly it stopped charging.

Most laptop chargers are a 2 piece unit. The charging unit with the DC plug for the laptop , and the A/C wire with the plug for the wall outlet on one end, and on the other end of that wire it connects to the charger. Pull it off the charger and put it back on. It may just have a lose connection. My daughters is always coming lose.

That happens to me sometimes. It might be because when you charge your laptop, you might bend the end of the charger that goes into your laptop which bend the thing that conduct electricity and prevent it from charging your computer. If that's the case, plug the charger into the computer and try to bent/move the end of the charger that's plugged into your laptop GENTLY and look at the indicator light to see at which angle it would charge. I hope this is the problem and that it would help.

Why would we should she kill you? it was more than likely not your fault lol... you'll probably have to get a new charger thats all, a bit expensive but nothing to major, if its still not working than you'll need to have someone take a look at it lol...
