My HP Pavilion laptop has recently started do a skipping/buzzing sound with any type of audio: online video, offline video, start up sound, even the sound after you click on something has a broken quality to them as short as they are. I notice when it happens that it kind of pauses/skips so that the sound is longer than it originally would have been. Any help on this would be much appreciated. This is ruining any audio experience on my computer.

oh, ha ha-- it kind of sound techno...ish :P

Thanks

If it is a clicking buzzing sound it is most likely you have a broken speaker. This is caused by age, how loud you play your music, or dirt in the speaker. My toshiba did the same thing but after taking it all apart, turned out to just be dust.

Try running a can of air over it real good and turn you speaker down a little and see if that helps any. Good Luck!

I would guess that it's the sound card or on board sound in the laptop (I don't know if it would have a separate sound card). The other possibility is the speakers have gone bad, either a bad connection (a wire/connection that has come loose) or the speakers themselves are bad. Have you checked if the sound is bad when you use headphones? That would give you some clue. But most likely you are going to have to take it to a repair place, because I think it's a hardware problem, since it's happening with all sounds.

If the problem is with the speakers and the headphones as you say, it's more than likely your sound card. You can try to update it by going to (if you're using a version of windows) clicking "Start" and typing in "Device Manager" and press enter. Select "Sound, video and game controllers" and update anything with the word "Audio" in it by right clicking it and selecting "Update driver software...". If they're all up to date, then you'll probably have to replace your sound card. If one or more does have an update available, test your sound after the update to see if it fixed your problem. Hope this helps! :)
