Don't use can of air without opening up the laptop, it just blows the dust back on the motherboard and might cover up the thermal sensor on the mobo causing the fan to run all the time , a vacuum cleaner make it even worst the laptop has to be open up to really clean the dust off the fan and the motherboard and the vents a small paint brush will get the fan blades clean and use a can of air to clean it real good afterwards

You definitely will have to open it up, unfortunately. There is no way to clean the fan without being inside. Duster cans clean a little bit out of keyboards, but even with them they blow most of the stuff inside the computer. You really do need to clean the fan too, as Toshibas are prone to overheating, which can ruin the system. It might sound silly, but take every tiny screw out of the bottom (be sure to not lose any) and you'll get in where you need to go. If I'm wrong, put them all back and pay Geek Squad, even though they're overpriced. I hope this helps. Good luck.

The idea would be to dislodge the dirt/dust actually. Blow the compressor into the exhaust vent, then blow it into the fan intake, then repeat a few times. Also try to blow the air into any other vented intakes. Repeat it a few times and the temps should drop significantly if it's as dirty as you say. By repeating the steps you should be able to get the dislodged dirt/dust outside the laptop without needing to open it.

Yes, a can of compressed gas is what you need. Just take the laptop outside and (with the laptop turned off) blow the gas into the fan and also into any vents near the fan.
