I am saving up about $2600 to buy a good laptop to last me a while.. but I'm not sure what brand to go with be it dell, mac etc.... I'm looking for high performance all around compatibility i wouldn't mind gaming but then i would have to buy one like alien ware (would alien ware be a good laptop besides gaming?). I'm tired of going the cheeper way and I want to buy a good quality product and i have been reading comments on laptops on this site for well over a month and need help!! please only serious comments ^_^ thanks!!!

In my opinion, 2600 bucks is a lot of money. And I mean it.

You can buy a desktop and a laptop altogether and I think that's the way to go. Computers don't usually need that much money but if you want, spending about 1600 on a laptop would be enough to get you a Lenovo/Vaio that would last you about 3 to 4 years. If you want, you can always buy a new one because in 3 to 4 years, laptops are usually obsolete.

Spending an extra thousand dollars would probably buy you an extra 3 months before the laptop become obsolete and that really isn't worth it.

Instead, if you want to play games, you might wanna consider buying a desktop in addition to your laptop. A thousand dollars worth desktop is good for playing various kinds of games, and might even play Crysis [One of the most graphic intensive game nowadays] with the low setting.

You just gotta know what to buy, but buying an alienware isn't worth the money. [Except if you are just looking for money to waste]

Edit: Additionally, you might not want to get a mac if you are into gaming because not a lot of games are compatible with the mac operating system.

save your money... mac do get viruses. they are being targeted more and more now they are becoming popular..

go to pc world web site. read the report on how mac is in for virus problems..

get a normal top of the range laptop, have Linux installed on it Linux operating system is like the mac but more secure, and Free with all the free software you will ever need..

Dell support Ubuntu Linux

HP support Red Hat Linux

most computer manufactures support Linux. but don't advertise the fact.. they do..

If you get a Linux system you will never have to buy any software again.. Linux is up graded every six months..

check Linux out click on the links below. find out what linux can do for you

Hi. Determine what you want the computer to do. Gaming takes a high speed processor, lots of RAM and a high end GPU. Surfing? Your needs may not be so stringent. But a PC or Mac that is good at gaming will do just about anything you want.

Alianware would be a good laptop. Mac's are good but to a slight disadvantage. You can get viruses on a Mac don't be fooled. I have seen a couple. Alianware is good for gaming. the lower end Dells are good for school. But if you are looking for a laptop that can play games, music, video and other things its a Alianware. Macs are good only for musicians and people that edit songs. its hard to get good software that you are used to for a mac. Macs are ok but if you compare the specs to others they are overpriced. Dells are good. You can customize a dell to meet your specs. To me dells last about 4.5-8 years with good care. Alianwares are designed for gaming , Macs for Music and Video and Dells for a medium all around for a cheap price. (the highest go for 2900). In my opinion go for maybe 2 dells that are 1000 bucks a piece but that is just me.

like the guy on here said ,decide what you want it for. Most people have powerful computers when all they need to do is send emails or write a few letters and surf the net. buy the lowest simplest spec that does YOUR thing. two thousand six hundred bucks should buy you a space station though! ARE YOU JOKING? for that money you could redesign nasa AND send rockets and stuff to the moon....calm down!
