Tip 1: Click Start, Run, and type "msconfig"

A menu will pop up. click on "Startup" tab and uncheck everything you see there. Restart your computer and it should be faster already.

The reason why I told you to do this is because brand name computers usually come with tons of junk installed and by default it all starts when your PC starts. This slows down your system considerably if you don't have a lot of RAM. When you uncheck everything in msconfig, you are not deleting your junk. It's still there on your pc ready to use when you need it. You only prevent it from running automatically which frees up valuable system resources. ;)

Tip2: Find out how much RAM you have. If it's less than 1gig and you are using Vista, buy another gig for a total of two gigs and install it. Before you buy ram, find out what ram your computer can accept and if it can accept additional ram at all.

Tip3: Run an antivirus scan and a spyware/adware scan. Viruses ans spyware can slow down your system.

Go here for a free antivirus:

Go here for free adware/spyware remover

Tip3: Defragment your hard drive

Start, Run, Accessories, System tools, disk Defragmenter.

Hepe this helps! good luck!

Tip4: See how much free space you have on your hard drive

If it's less than 1gig or so, delete some of the stuff you installed, and not using. ;) When you have very little free space left the system becomes slow.

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

remove any unnessesary programs. If it has vista then put Windows XP back on it cause Vista sucks, its just a bunch of extra things that slow you down. Windows XP would run much faster. If you dont want to do that then buy more memory for it cause it will only get slower as you add more stuff to it.

1. Scan with any popular anti virus application with latest definitions. Your notebook might be infected. Some times Torjan horse and Worm viruse slows down systems.

2. Use msconfig in Startmenu--->RUN to disable service that you don't require, also startup application. Its very easy to understand and navigate in msconfig. For eg: I don't use smart card service in windows, so I have disabled it from startmenu.

Yes there is. There are two ways.

1. Go to the HP website or any other computer website, and buy a new memory circuit board thing. Install it into the computer. This requires taking apart the computer.

2. Go to a computer repair place. Then, ask them to upgrade the memory to about two gig.

Notebooks are notoriously slower than desktops, when it comes to speed. Adding memory can sometimes help, but it will still be slower. Make sure that you aren't downloading a ton of programs that you don't need, and make sure that when you do, you're installing only what you need.

Well the only real way is to upgrade the RAM [Which is used by the computer to temporarily store data that it will use].......

if you have windows vista you can put in a usb stick [512mb,1gb,2gb etc...] and use windows vista speedboost...it uses it as extra RAM

Hope This Helps

The web is dangerous. The lodge usually makes use of Dial Up, or Modem, and the provider supplier is usually particularly gradual, due to the fact the lodge needs low-priced web. The wifi is usually quicker, due to the fact they have got seperate web connections - one million for WiFi, and one more for land line. The definitely is that the landline is hooked up to the mobile, that's particularly gradual, round a couple of kilobytes consistent with moment. however the WiFi us usually attached to quicker web, like an genuine Ethernet cable. Gasp.
