Wireless router help: updated laptop, now no internet?
Just got a new laptop, hooked it up to the internet via Netgear wireless router. Worked great for two days. Then the computer updated, now I keep getting "connection was reset" and "can't connect to server" messages when I try to browse. It shows that I am fully connected, with 5 bars, with an occasional "limited access." It will work for about a minute, then when I try to load a new page, error message. I tried resetting the passwords for the router, so I know they match. Yes, the internet switch is on. Please help!!!!

If the two laptops provide up engaged on a similar time then for sure there's a difficulty with the router/modem or the internet connection. much less in all danger (yet available) is interference from a neighbouring on the spot community. i might examine including your provider provider. they could be waiting to remotely examine your modem for faults and propose whether the internet connection is at fault. you do no longer want a firewall in case you have already got a router this has a greater powerful geared up in firewall by using way for NAT (community handle translation) . So turn all application firewalls off (which contain homestead windows very own firewall, AVG and zone alarm) as they are in a position to conflict. If the problem happens returned, try those steps a million) try connecting by using ethernet cable by using plugging between the laptops to the router and notice in case you get the internet, this might see if there is on the spot problem 2) try pulling the flexibility from the modem for 20s and then permit to reboot the modem, in case you could now connect the problem is with the modem area 3) in case you have a separate router do comparable to 2) in this form you're able to be waiting to narrow down the fault.

It may be the browser your using, on my mac I had to use Firefox and the new version of Explorer still has issues when connecting to the internet on my HP. You may want to try and reload the driver for your router again and see if that will fix the problem and double check your internet address, you may be picking up a neighbors wireless router and that would show a connection but won't let you on without their password.

Roll back the driver update

Restore to a time before the problem then see if it persists if not it was the update so *hide it* that way it will not be loaded again

if the problem is still there then it is possibly a router fault
