Macs don't go "on sale" much, although you might get a slightly better deal after the holidays are over.
What I did, and I suggest you consider, is getting a "refurbished" Mac directly from Apple (see link, below). A refurbished computer has been gone over by a technician with a fine-tooth comb and, some say, is actually better than a "new" one because it has been tweaked to perfection. And, best of all, they come with warranties and you can save a LOT of money when you buy one. I sure did.
Good luck, and the link below is to the Refurb page at Apple.com. Check it out, and remember that the stock there changes occasionally, so, if you don't find what you're looking for today, go back next week and they may have different stuff...

If you go the refurb route make sure you know when a model is about to be replaced in a way that will make it obsolete. I got what I thought was a fantastic deal on a Powerbook G4 one week before Mac brought out the Intel processor. Had I been following computer news I likely would have known about this and my "deal" wouldn't have seemed so attractive. It's been a good computer, but not the bargain I thought I was getting.

Mac computers hardly go on sale if your looking at laptops. Macbooks and still $999 like they were a year ago today.
& if they go on sale at all, its like 50 dollars difference. Hardly a deal.
However, i bought my 20' imac a year ago and the 27' is the same price i bought my 20' for. Just because of the recession.
I recommend buying the older version of the white macbook off amazon or ebay (that still runs snow leopard) for a deal.
