My laptop has configuration-
Core2Duo 2.2Ghz
4 GB RAM
1GB Nvidia Graphic Card (GT 240M)

Earlier all the games used to work smoothly...
But now while playing big games (like NFS Run, COD Ghost, Burnout, Crysis, Far Cry3), my laptop gets heated soon...and the game lags a lot...
Let me know if you can help..

Your laptop is getting old and although it has a decent ( but older) dual core and a decent ( but older ) GPU i think that you need to get both the CPU and GPU's thermal paste changed ( after a few years it will start to dry out and not transfer the heat away properly ) and a full cleaning ( if the laptop is in a smoke free place all the time the dust will just blow out easily but if you are in a smoky house or place even for part of the day then all the fans and heat sinks will need to be cleaned with Q-tips soaked in rubbing alcohol ) will cost 40 to 100 bucks ( the whole laptop will usually have to be taken apart then put back together ) !

You will need to find a shop locally that you trust and hope fully does not charge an arm and a leg !

May be the processor is slowing down since its aging.
