i have a u k keyboard and have tried many things to solve the problem full stars for help on this one and thank you it happened before to me and the problem was solved but i cant remember what i did also i am on windows xp home edition

Sounds like you have the wrong keyboard layout selected.



1. Click the Start->Control Panel menu item.

2. Click Date, Time, Language and Regional Options.

3. Click Add Other Languages.

4. Click the Details button.

5. If the language you want isn’t in the list, use the Add button to add it.

6. Click on a language you want to delete and click the Remove button to get rid of it. Repeat as necessary.

mine used to do that, it's because its set in the wrong language layout an american keyboard is layed out in a different way to change it you need to do this..



1. Click the Start->Control Panel menu item.

2. Then go to Date, Time, Language and Regional Options, and add other languages

3. Click the Details button.

4. select the language you want or if it isn't there add it to the list

You need to change your setup of keyboard. I have XP so these are instructions for XP, Vista slightly different: Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Change both drop downs to English Australia.

Control panel international settings and select the input locale correctly. There is a keyboard setting icon there as well.
