My computer OS is Windows XP Media Edition x64, I installed the HP recovery discs that came with the computer. After they had finished installing my computer turned off. I received this message "INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 14. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit".

THESE ARE THE DISCS I HAVE - System Recovery DVD, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and Application and Drive Discs.

I bought a new hard drive and it is compatible. I called HP and they sent me new discs and they are the same serial number like the other ones I had before..
I ran all of them and the same it shut down on about 84% the I turn it on it says that message again.
PLEASE HELP! THESE ARE MANUFACTURE DISCS AND DRIVERS WHAT ELSE CAN BE WRONG?

This is a case of bad/faulty/defective ram/cd/dvd drive/hdd/cd/dvd media..!!..

See carefully if your hard disk drive is making any humming/ticking noise (like 'tic tic' or 'kirr kirr').if so it is likely needs to be replaced....

try to reinstall Operating System by some other cd/dvd(media) and or cd/dvd drive.. (to take data backups u got to connect the Hard disk drive to another pc/laptop, for such cases a Hard disk drive-case is available in the local spare market, it'll make behave your Hard disk drive to act as an external removable drive)..

This can also be a symptom of faulty/defective of RAM..pen clean/remove carbon & or oxide formed on the teeth with an eraser n reseat it..[It’ll b more prominent, that if its cause by ram or not, if during normal operation, a Blue Screen appears/Memory Dump]

though, sometimes its also caused by the mother board

You can do a search online, and there seem to be several posts from people experiencing the same issue.

Here's an article that offers a possible solution. Please note while it worked for the author, there are a couple of comments from people saying it did not work for them. It still may be worth a try though.

try popping your windows installation disc in, boot to it and repair your installation .. that's rather cryptic and basically means somehow one of your system files got corrupted or removed from your system ..
