Question:
How to build a custom laptop?
2014-07-26 07:55:22 UTC
I'm thinking of just custom building a laptop for myself, but I have no idea how to go about it, or where to even start ;A;

I'm just going to customize it for mainly music/audio recording (and mainly for the UTAU program) and for games. (I thought I should put that out cause I remember vaguely that my cousin said something about parts best for certain tasks?)

can someone help me out here?

You can't. Desktop cases are big enough that you can put different parts into them, but space is too tight in a laptop to start mixing and matching parts.

Even in a desktop, there isn't much to customize that really makes a difference. It feels good to make it yourself, and it makes you feel like your rig is optimized for you, but there isn't much that you can customize that really makes a difference.

In a desktop, you could put in a high-end audio card. (There are USB add-ons for laptops, too). You could put in a high-end video card for games.

There is no choice in customization that would be better for one task but worse for another. There are choices that would make a difference for some tasks but not make a difference for other tasks. If you buy a machine with a high-end graphics card, it will be better for games, but you won't notice a difference with audio recording. But it won't be worse for audio recording. The customization might allow you to only upgrade the parts that matter to you rather than buying a machine with all high-end parts, which could save a small bit of money, but a machine with enough RAM, a good HD, a good graphics card, and a good audio card will do everything.
