install xp home basic sp 2 on pre installed win 7 ultimate 32 bit (LAPTOP)?

hello,,everyone
this is my first question on yahoo answer.i hope you can solve it.
i have sony vaio vgn-nw13gh with win 7 pre installed,but i want to downgrade to win xp.
my laptop configruation is -
intel pentium t4200 (2 ghz)
160 ata hdd
2 gb ram

i have read many article,forum and many more thing for it,but i didn't satisfied....thanks in advance

Not sure why you would want to downgrade but your choice. You would have to install XP via a CD, change the boot priority to boot from cd/dvd.... Or try tapping either F2 when you turn on the laptop and it should give you a boot menu!!.... There is also XP mode built into W7 ultimate !!

Downgrading a Windows 7 to the very old XP? Not a smart decision. What you can do is dual-boot them so you won't lose your Windows 7. Read this:

So you want to install Windows XP SP2 in your lap. Burn your Windows XP image into CD DVD if you do not have its ready. Change the boot order of the computer to CD/DVD and start your laptop while the CD/DVD is inside.



While prompted "booting from CD/DVD..." Press Enter to start windows XP setup. Follow the instruction and select clean install by formatting C Drive option. Obviously back up your data into some other media.

wts buging me z that y do u wnt to downgrade? Nd that too to win xp?Anyway, u'll hv to first check if drivers of ur laptop are available fr win xp..(bt i doubt)..then boot with win xp cd (as suggested in the above answer) or flashdrive..Bt still i wud sugest u to stay wid win7.. If u need to run sm programs that are incompactible wid win7 u cn dwnld "Windows xp mode for windows 7" frm microsoft's official site.. :)
