sounds like a corrupt operating system.

Call your local staples and ask them how to handle it. They may tell you to take it to them, and they'll fix it, or they might direct you to their warranty service (and often, this is the best bet... they're known for just replacing items with newer, faster models).

if you created the Vista CD's, you can recover your operating system (read the system manual).

If you did not, you can re-install Vista ONLY using the anytime upgrade dvd that came with the computer, and your vista code at the bottom of the laptop (some claim this doesnt work, i'm a tech, i do it all the time. it works). when you're done, you'll have to download drivers from Acer's website.

if nothing else, you'll have to contact acer (ugh!) and order new recovery disks.

I don't have experiance with Acers, but I know that if I could, I'd exchanged my HP for an Acer andy day. My friend has a Pavilion and she's had so much problems with it!! And she told me that if you do have problems with a HP, the people from the company get back to you VERY late and she came to have up to 9 referance numbers and only picked her laptop up for repair after 2 months. Trust me: HP is not THAT fast. I even have Windows 7 on mine and it's utterly HORRID. So yes: Acer Aspire. HPs are not the most efficient laptops out there so to be honest, I wouldn't adivse you on buying one at all.

Vista or XP?

It might have installed some driver that has problem starting...

try safemode by continuously pressing F8 while it is rebooting.

If it starts in safe mode, then it is most likely driver/service related.

last resort, if it comes with a recovery CD/DVD, boot it up with that and restore your system.

i suspect that could be a damage in the windows system most likely caused by a virus or deleting a file from windows or performing a boot scan and asking the anti-virus to delete.

I'd suggest you perform a repair on windows coz i think if you try to boot in safe mode it does boot. if you cant do it your self refer to a service technician as you risk loosing your data if not careful

wish u luck

If none of that works, unplug the power cord.

Remove the battery for 2 minutes.

That will clear any flash memory problems.

Put the battery back in.

Plug it back in.

Push power button to turn it on.

you might have lost one of the window files, try to use the manufacture recovery disk.
