Toshiba L750 HDD Recovery?

The Toshiba Satellite L750 is brand new, I bought it about 3 weeks ago. When I went to turn it on, it doesnt get past the windows loading screen then it comes up with a black screen with a mouse in the middle of the screen (which you can still move around). After this I restarted it and after the screen which has the F2 and F12 option, It says that it cant find a boot option and that I need a boot disk. Wtf?! I tried to recover the HDD by holding down the "0" key whilst turning on the laptop but the HDD recovery screen freezez -.- someone please help me! I have uni assignments on the laptop but if they cannot be saved please tell me what I should do so that laptop can at least work again.

p.s. I've looked online for the HDD recovery utility and according to other people the HDD recovery is now built in to the laptop itself... is that the only way??!!

If it were ME.



I would return the unit to where it was purchased for a warranty service tag.

Explain the situation to them and your instructor. Instructor will say you should of saved to an external device.



But the service MAY be able to recover your files. But the easiest way for THEM is to say they are lost, and simply recover the OS from the image file or THEIR discs.

When you first set up your new Toshiba you where prompted to create the system recovery disc set.

Now that the operating system has corrupt start up files for what ever reason you now need to order the system recovery/install disc set by model and serial number from Toshiba.

Try pressing F8 repeatedly at start up to enter start options, choose repair system or safe mode with networking. The below links will give you all the info for recovery, ordering recovery media and more.
