Well the laptops are differentiated by their use, for general and internet use there are Chromebooks and and VivoBook. For gaming there are Lenovo, Alienware and Msi laptops. Some are all rounder like Lenovo Y510 and some are more than that like Asus G750JX which is i think one of the best capable laptops excelled in many criterias and for diversity of usage. Today's modern games are very heavy for a laptop, people prefer desktop for that since desktops are highly upgradeable. But Asus G750JX has just proved me wrong. After checking its extremely great specifications and user's feedbacks it seems to be a smart choice for gamers, image and video editors as well as power users. You can see more details of this laptop in this review:

With most modern i7 processor it has 16 GB of RAM which is more than enough for many latest games. Having said that, gamers are mainly dependent on a good GPU. Asus G750JX has NVidia GTX770M 3G to support games to run smooth and lag free. Its design to its cooling features and its strong built to its battery life, Its a winner all the way. Hope this answer help.

In my opinion the four three best laptops are Asus, Toshiba, Dell and Lenovo.

See, the laptop that you buy, regardless of the cost should meet all your computing needs and more. I say 'more' because people change and what you need today may not be what you want a few months from now.

Keeping this in mind , do some research for a laptop that will meet most of your computing needs now and perhaps could meet some other needs a few months down the road. Whatever you decide, keep in mind the fact that technology renews roughly every two years.

The laptop that you buy today will probably meet your needs now and a few months into the future but they may not meet the computing needs two to three years later. Essentially there is no future proof laptop. If you can look to upgrading some basic hardware of the laptop then that too would be a step towards getting future proofed.

That being said Macs are very good computers but you need to decide whether you will be happy to stick to Apple's Operating system alone. Also, Mac computers are not too easy to upgrade. Once you get an Apple computer then you have to figure out as to how to get various software for it. So you will need to get " MS Office" for Apple, anti-virus for Apple and so on and so forth.

The thing with Windows Computer is that you can look to upgrading some basic hardware of the laptop ( RAM, Processor, Hard Disc Drive etc.). You can also think to install various flavors of Linux on it rather easily. You can download Linux free along with third party Linux Office which is also free. If you are going to use Linux you do not even need a super powerful computer.

This will keep your costs down.

So with Windows computer you can think of using two separate Operating Systems on it but with Mac you will always have to use one, the Apple Operating system.

Yes ,I know people will go nuts now, saying that they can install Windows on top of Apple Operating System. Sure, but think of it, this is like wearing an oil-skin coat on top of a fur lined winter coat, on a hot sunny day.

Choosing a laptop truly deals with what you want out of it. If you are a gamer, and have some cash, the Valkyrie CZ-28 (http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Valkyrie-CZ-28-Gaming-Laptop) is a great laptop. If you want a computer for browsing the internet, any 200-300 dollar laptop will be sufficient. If you want a computer for designing, creating graphics, or editing film, like said below, a Mac is perfect.

i would not buy a mac, the firts poster is funny. polls can be skewed to get the results you desire.not always accurate. for alot less you get a pc that can do alot more than a mac. most games and many programs ar enot written for mac. so thats a hiuge drawback their.plus more and more viruses are made for mac every year. as for the prefect pc,with your needs any laptop will do. i am gonna recommend this laptop. it has some power do to light gaming and it is windows 7. if you go for higher end processors you have les sbattery life and more heat stress so there is a trade off for getting too powerful a laptop. contact me if you need more help. jdbj32m@yahoo.com
