My Dell Inspiron 1520 always start with part (right side) of the screen blanked or black space. Windows XP start up screen doesn't show, just the logon already with black space. It's like using 800x600 resolution while it should be 1280x800. I tried the settings but to no avail. The only thing that will solve this is remove the battery pack first before starting but I know it's not the proper way to solve the problem.

If it does this when booting also, your LCD may be damaged or the cable that connects to the main board is not seated properly.

I am going to guess that you ran only one test at removing the battery and it worked fine. When you did that you most likely accidentally moved the connections on your screen around so it happened to work. Try running that battery test a few more times. Like the other guy said, your screen might be going out.

Vista is truly no longer area of the undertaking. It sounds like your pc is contaminated with a deadly disease. the two pay for somebody to restoration it for you, or acquire some loose antivirus classes (like Malwarebytes) and sparkling out the virus. you additionally can use the restoration partition on your laptop to repair your pc to production facility condition (yet which will wipe out all your data, so make certain you do a backup first)
