IBM doesn't make the Thinkpad line anymore. Lenovo does. That's why you need to be searching the support site at Lenovo. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FdownloadsDriversLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&validate=false
The problem is, you need to know a bit more than just the model being an R32 to get the listing of exact drivers for that unit. Another problem is that Lenovo doesn't list any Vista drivers for ANY of the possibilities for the R32.

Now... just because YOU did not have a copy of XP, that doesn't mean that you could not have PURCHASED Windows XP for him, or had your friend purchase it...

See? It is still for sale. No, don't argue that he needed the upgrade anyway... that R32 is an older unit, and XP will run better on it than Windows 7 will, and you may never get all the drivers you need for it for Windows 7 anyway...
You know the old adage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it... well XP worked fine on that model line... don't mess with it.
