I work for a staffing agency, but my contract is through IBM. So while I am technically an employee of the staffing agency, I am working for IBM and have an official IBM email address. Am I able to use the employee pricing to purchase a lenovo computer?

No you can't. You are not an IBM employee, technically or otherwise, at least that is the way IBM views it. The fact that you have an IBM email address, and probably work at an IBM site, means nothing. You are an employee of the staffing firm. The contract is between the staffing firm and IBM, not you and IBM.

The reason is that they have to try harder or they get nothing. Westerners have everything handed to them on a silver platter and that makes them lazy. Their cultures push them to achieve because if they don't they remain poor their whole life, being poor in a privileged country id not all that bad really. But in Asia it is very bad.
