Question:
Lap top problem? It's speed is killing me!?

My lap top is kinda old. It's Toshiba.
Two months ago I installed Avast! anti virus. And I had 253 viruses! (yeah! I know!) I deleted all without looking at them. And I think I might have deleted an important file. Because after that the lap top started to show me some warnings. Like, I was watching a movie and the monitor suddenly went blue and it wrote some things (English is not my first language so I didn't understand half of it...) and in the end it said if that was the first time I had seen that page, I should restart. I did. But that blue page came over and over again until my lap top couldn't start anymore. I could turn it on but I couldn't enter the windows even with safe mode.
I tried to repair it with boot able disc but it just couldn't find the disc!
Anyways... I was able to install a new windows XP. But I didn't format my lap top completely. Now the speed is killing me. Many programs I used have are not working anymore...
Some one told me I have to format my hard drive... What should I do? It takes the lap top 35 minutes to bring up the user page! Imagine how long it takes to get into the user page!!!!

If I were you - I would upgrade. The pain you would save yourself.

If it's fairly old, then, I think you're due for a nice treat. LOL!

However, if expense is holding you back, you're going to have to format it. Download a 'Disc Wipe' Software - there are hundreds of free versions available online (Google it)

Make a Bootable CD of the Disc Wipe Software. Restart your computer and boot your computer from the disc, the software will do the rest. What the software will do is rewrite the Binary Code, meaning there will be no trail of anything ever being on your computer.

Then, install your choice of Operating System. You'll be flying then.

Hope that helps.

P.S. That Blue Screen is an early warning of a corrupted HDD.

its called BSOD or blue screen of death

you most definatly need to format the whole pc and bring it back up

make sure your pc is NOT connected to the internet during recovery

if your unit has XP with anything less thenSPK2 make sure you have a good security suite FIREWALL turn it on before connecting to the internet then get all 1200+ XP updates sinces its older you will want to AVOID SPK3 that will be to hard on your PC and will slow it down by almost 50%

Go purchase a brief can of foolish string on the buck retailer (the three-four" tall ones). Wrap it in black electric tape, then begin bragging approximately your new "pepper foam." When you have obtained their concentration, take it out as though to exhibit them, and spray it at them.
