Ever since this one time Asus Live Updates did an update I've had the following happen:

-My FN volume keys stopped working
-Power4Gear widget doesn't work(it's there but it's greyed out)
-Asus Live Updates "updates" itself, closes finish the update, then ceases to exist on my computer. So I redownload and it just does the same thing over
-I've been getting the following popups every time I start up my computer: "Can't open ACPI ATK0100 kernel Mode Driver", "This program can only be executed on the ASUS computer", and "You have to install ATK0100 driver"

Computer Info:
-Asus Laptop K53U
-Browsers: Primarily Firefox 14.0.1, and occasionally Chrome
-Windows 7(64 Bit) Home Premium or somethin'

SO, can someone help me? I'm okay with computers, but please don't go crazy nerdy talk. Give me a nice step by step explanation :P

Do a System Restore back to before the update that you think messed up your computer. Do you know what the Update was/is? You can remove it from where they are stored if you know what update is is.

After that or even before it, why not download the Driver and instal it?

Pageful of Info here about the driver problem:

http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=252782

Do a System Restore.

Do you know how to do it

Click 'Start'

Right click 'Computer' and click 'Properties' in the box of choices that opens.

In the next 'System Properties' window click 'System Protection'

In the next window highlight the 'C' Drive and click the 'System Restore' tab

Click Next in the new window that opens

Now choose a point to Restore the computer back too.

Set it in motion and have a cuppa coffee.

When done hopefully problem fixed.

If not download and instal the 'missing driver'

Also I suggest you get this program. Its free and small download.

C Cleaner....use it to clean out the Registry

Download C Cleaner

http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean…

Install it and run it. In the user interface that opens do these things in this order.

1 Click the Registry icon on the left side of the interface and you get a new window opens

2 Click the 'Scan for issues' tab and let the scan complete

3 Now click the 'Fix selected issues' tab

4 Click the 'No' tab asking if you want to Backup changes to the Registry

5 In next window click the 'Fix all selected issues' tab.. when done with the "fixing"...

6 Click 'Close'

You can repeat the processes from 1 to 6 and see if any more issues are found and 'Fix' them

When done, close C Cleaner and that's it for now.

Use C Cleaner at least once a week. I use it after I uninstall anything because sometimes/often uninstall doesn't remove the debris left behind and that will clutter your Reg with useless CRAP.

Perhaps a scan for Malware wouldn't go astray either. Download and instal MalwareBytes from here:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Its a small download size too. When installed and you open it, UPDATE it first by clicking the Update Tab up the top of interface. When its updated, run it to do a Quick Scan. Let it do its thing and when done any nasties will be quarantined.
