Question:
I need a new laptop for work, which of these would be best?

I need to be able to take it from my office to worksites and to school, without losing my data. Which would be most reliable? I don't really know the brands very well and just need a little help from someone who knows the track record of these.

I think Dell is a good brand. I bought a gaming computer from them, and it's held up really well in 5 years. I wrote my uncle, who tests computers, games, electronics and such, and he suggested Dell to me, when I wanted a good laptop. :)

Edit: I also owned a gateway laptop. It wasn't the best, I was much happier with the Dell laptop.

If its about Specifications Its Gateway all the way. They make the Most Powerfull Computers for cheap. If you pay an extra 50 Dollars you can wt the Gateway Md7818u for 800. Its my laptop. You can also get it for 600 from Best Buy They are also durable.

If its about Durability go with the Panasonic. They will never break. I mean it. NEVER! theyre called the toughbook for a reason although they dont have great specs and theyre ugly.

Now with Dells, they are basically well rounded in specs. Not great unless you get a 1100 XPS. There durabilty is okay not as good as gateway or Pansonic. They do have greagt customer service thjough even if their shipping sucks.

You need an Hp ! Their service is the best and the helps in learning how your system works is out standing. Their lap tops are strong and last. HP don't do much advertising, and passes the savings on to the customer. It may sound like I work for HP, but I don't. My first lap top was a Compaq in 1998 and it still works. On Yahoo answers there are more Questions for Dell help then any other. A little over 2 years ago I got a new Compaq Presario with windows vista home premium and it has been great. A little work on how to use it, but still Great.

I would go for Dell. I have had lots of issues with Panasonic. Not sure about Gateway. I would google Company followed by issues or problems and read up on the issues people have had.

Word of warning. Dell delivery is not fantastic. Ordered one 4 weeks ago and had the delivery date changed 4 times now. Same with the last one I bought.

saw dell and my decision was made without looking, Dell has 1st rate computers, and you can build your own online. If they break no worry guaranteed 2yrs or longer, they send you a box free shipping and mail it back quickly when fixed. Its not just about the computer its also service, I just can't say anything bad about Dell
