whenever i try to run a game on my laptop, it runs fine for about 5 minutes, then lags badly for a few minutes, goes back to normal for a minute, then lags again. this process repeats for about half an hour before it goes normal. the fan takes ages to start working too. any problems that would cause that? note: it's a 2010 unibody macbook running windows 7 through boot camp, just in case that helps

Use the task manager in the Windows 7 environment to see what virtual resources are being used.

I'm not familiar with Macs, but if there's a similar too, you should compare and contrast the readings between the two operating systems.

Most likely it's a memory resource allocation problem that is causing the load to be shared on your hard drive until more memory is freed up. It's also possible that the hard drive has a problem with a particular sector, or if the computer is quite loud, there is likely an issue with the fan.

Once software issues are ruled out - If you suspect issues with the fan starting and stopping, check the BIOS on startup for operating temperatures to ensure this is functioning correctly. After that, run a scandisk (chkdsk).

A memory check (memtest) and a burnout test on the CPU can be used as a last resort, but should not be necessary provided that you have checked performance levels successfully.

Windows on a Macbook? BLASPHEMY!!!

Just kidding.

There are two items that push a video game;

memory(RAM) and a powerful graphics card.

That given, you might want to check the system

requirements for the game and see where you

match up.

In my business, a mac doesn't come home unless

the RAM is maxed out. Fill it up. It can't hurt.
