Most computer companies that make laptops are now producing ultraportable laptops called netbooks. These are cheap (can go as low as $350). They also have really long battery life(I think that some can last over 5 hours). This sounds like it would be good for you because these laptops are mainly used for simple tasks like word processing, internet browsing, or email. If you go to cnet.com you can find some good reviews of netbooks.

Get Toshiba. Its amazing!

I got a Toshiba last year in August and its still running like new.

The one I have has wi-fi , which is pretty nifty and I can pretty much take it anywhere and still have internet.

I also have Windows Vista on it, which most people hate, but I love it.

I highly recommend this brand and operating system, I promise you'll

love it as much as I do.

Plus: When I got it it was only $500

Check out an inexpensive Dell. I think even Wal Mart carries them. I've had three Dells over the years and love them. (Am typing this into one right now)
