my laptop is slow as shizzit and i dont know why, and i was wondering how to make it faster without recommending some sort of antivirus thing on the internet im very skeptical of that (my mum downloaded personal antivirus to "see if it would work")

so if the best answer to make my computer faster is to get norton or something like that then fine but id like other solutions first.

also if anyone knows how to get rid of personal antivirus that would be REALLY helpful.

Personal antivirus is a scam, that is installed by trojans. And trojans and other viruses make computer slower.

Norton should fix most of the problems, but it is itself a resoure hog. Better to use NOD32 or AVIRA or Kaspersky as antivirus.

For fixing your problem with Personal antivirus, I recomend this guide: http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-personal-antivirus

Or download and install spyware doctor, malwarebytes antimalware or other reputable anti-spyware.

Finally rapid is only a man like me that remotely logs into your pc, and cleans it up(in case you relatively wish to do this then you'll be able to ship me a far off request $60 to pay friend) subsequent you ought to uninstall Norton(recomend the NRT.exe, norton elimination software you'll be able to get it from Norton's internet site) earlier than you put in any antivirus application all the ancient need to be deleted(you are not able to run greater than separately). Folks don’t take this the fallacious approach, it's my opinion and I am fallacious ordinarily. I have discovered that the majority humans that love the “loose” antivirus application, have plenty of time on their palms; such a lot of this time is spent strolling scans and casting off obstacle techniques. I labored repairing computer systems for over 15 years and discovered that the majority “loose” stuff doesn’t come loose, in different phrases you get what you pay for, if in case you have the time to learn the quality print you'll see that there aren't any promises with the loose stuff, and help is confined. You, as a consumer, won't have the talent to take away a application that has prompted disorders, so that you rent anybody so as to do the paintings, most of the time paying plenty for this provider. Now how loose used to be that application relatively? And then you will have the guru that says, it really works for me, consider he's a guru, so although it ruins his pc, he is aware of the way to repair it, do you? And while that obstacle occurs, bet what? Guru is nowhere to be discovered. Save a couple of complications, pay now, or pay later. What is the significance of some time?

Hi, There is a # of ways to improve the speed of your laptop, 1, increase the RAM or memory, 2, increase the processor size, 2, Defragment the hard drive, 3, If you go to C-Net you can down load a free anti-virus named AVG you use this in stead of Norton, which isn't a good program. Other than this take your laptop to a computer store and see what they recommend and the cost. Good Luck Johnsvolt

do a basic tune up. I do remote connections for a living. I can remotely connect to your computer via the internet and do a full clean up of your windows. It will run a lot faster and I can also install an antivirus software to make sure your computer is protected. btw, personal antivirus is a virus. email me for price quotes. @ bilingual_tech@hotmail.com

Heres what you need to do. If its Hardware your looking for to make you computer faster its more RAM memory modules, more than likely i think your computer might be a DIMM. also try running a check disk. when you turn on you computer go to run->type in cmd-> then type in chkdsk and the hit enter. this should sort files in order so that the cpu can find things faster it will also arrange segments of you hdd so that they are not on top of eachother. anti virus i recommend would be to use a combination of ad- aware and spy bot. these are totally free anti-virus software.

install RAM if your motherboard support more

if you want a antivirus that will not make your pc slow

don't buy the top security like norton 360 or system works

bitdefender total security ....................... if you want to buy this you must have fast pc but buy only the antivirus like

kaspersky antivirus

bitdefender antivirus

windows live one care

and don't forget to remove the temporary files and internet temporary files

by using disk cleanup

If your computer is old then it needs more memory such as more GB additives or special memory drives. Your processor might be old and it is trying to read all those new programs that are happening now-a-days. Unfortunately if your processor is old you need a new computer with a good processor, one that can read the Information fast and clear. Check out Lenovo ThinkPads.

you might have a lot of junk install on it. cookies, temporary internet files, temp files, etc. all this junk stays saved on your computer for ever if you don't perform cleanups, and as they piled up your computer gets slower and slower. I always recommend a full clean up before you install anything or start messing with your hardware.

Click on that link and you will see "personal Antivirus" is in fact a virus. Your Mum infected your computer, that's why it's running so slow.

Well, the only way to speed up a computer is by adding RAM. Not installing more stuff. To add RAM, its best to let a technician do it for you. Also, if you want to uninstall stuff, go to:

Start/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs/uninstall whatever you want.

try disk cleanup then disk defragmenter and if its still slow, then get a new processor, downgrade the operating system, or just get more ram.
