I updated to Windows 7 from Windows Vista and now my CD/DVD drive doesn't work. I have a Dell Vostro 1700 laptop, it came with Windows Vista, but I recently installed Windows 7. Now my disk drive will not recognize any disks. I tried deleting the upper/lower files in the registry that itunes uses to mess up the drive and it did nothing. I have a Pioneer DVR-K17YA SLIM 8X DVD+/-RW, I've tried reinstalling the Bios and reinstalling the driver, it still will not work. What else can I do? Is this drive even compatible with Windows 7?

What it fixes...

Your CD or DVD Drive does not read or write and is shown as disabled

The media in your CD or DVD drive cannot be read

The media cannot be written to by your CD or DVD drive

You receive one of the following errors:

A class specific or device specific driver is missing or corrupt

A CD or DVD drive cannot be found or is not connected

The CD or DVD drive is experiencing a problem that prevents it from working properly

The CD or DVD drive is not accessible via an assigned drive letter

you want more suitable ability and memory to run homestead windows 7 than vista, so in case you initially had Vista, in basic terms delete homestead windows 7. Mine also got here with Vista, and it become so undesirable I spent the further funds to get homestead windows 7. yet, one length does no longer in high quality condition all.
