If you have just recently removed some spy/mal/badware there could be an issue with your registry. I have recently come across a lot of situations where the file that handles logging your user in is replaced by badware and when that file is removed the corresponding registry entry stays. The symptom is you log in, then it logs you back out.

It may be easier to do a reinstall of Windows but to solve this without doing that check that the following registry entry is as follows with a livecd such as the Ultimate Boot CD Windows version and using the remote registry editor or by using another computer on your local network and running the regedit program and going to file, connect network registry when the problematic PC is at the login screen.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

The entry for "UserInit" should read "C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe," and the entry for "Shell" should read "Explorer.exe". If they do not change them to match what I have here in the quotes.

PC stands for Personal Computer....

Windows is a PC and so is Mac. How many more Apple ads are you planning on watching?

Your question is not very descriptive. How much time have you given the login screen to log in before you pulled the plug? Did you recently do updates? Does the screen tell you that your password is wrong?

It may be a virus, try booting up in safe mode.

It's probable that Caps Lock is toggled, and then there's also the simple possibility that you have the wrong password. Should you fail to be able to log-in, resort to Safe Mode (should be aforementioned in your user's manual, provided at initial purchase of product). Following the procedures given in your manual [refer below for Windows'], select the 'Administrator' user, and it should direct you to the desktop, where you can then make modifications to your operating sytem, such as passwords, user preferences, recent hardware changes, etc. After this, restart, and log-in with your username. It should now work, and if otherwise, get professional aid.

Procedure for Windows:

Upon booting the system, strike the F8 key (otherwise F10 or F12) once the screen is directed to the Windows-logo-loading screen. You'll be directed to a list of options where you may choose to boot up in various modes of operation.

Maybe your putting the password in wrong. ls the CAPS locks off when you type it?
