Couple of options: try your keyboard in her computer to see if it's a problem elsewhere. If okay then it's the keyboard. Unplug it & gently prise off the key buttons if they are able to be lifted. Some are spring loaded in a way that's hard to get them back on. Clean the keys, then replug & try again. If no luck, best to try a new keyboard. Prob good idea not to let cats walk on keyboards. Put them up out of way or tip up on side or back end of keyboard out of way.

If it's a laptop, I might be able to help. My keyboard was messed up too. I have a Dell Precision M65 with Windows XP. What I had to do was reset the keyboard. This was done by a physical disconnect and reconnect of the keyboard from the laptop. On my computer there is a plastic cover which I had to pop off. After that I had to unscrew the keyboard. (I believe there were 4 screws) I then was able to disconnect and reconnect the cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. I put everything back together and my keyboard has worked fine ever since. If this sounds too complicated ask for a friend who knows a little about computers and they might be able to give you a hand.

if you don't want to get another Keyboard then you should do what I did....

pop out the keys that don't work, see if the key it self is working by getting the end of your head phones if you have any.. I used that because i needed something that wasn't sharp...before you do this go to note pad so you know what your doing..press down if it work then check to see if the key button is broken if its not then its ok..put the button key back in to it see if it works with your keyboard if it does then yey...they probably just needed to be popped out...if both procedure's in this operation did not work then I have to say, Your keyboard has passed the broken test.

Probably spilled something in them. If something gets down in the hole the key is in, it's probably fried. Maybe pop the keys off and have a look. Don't get water down in it though.
