1. restart the computer

2. when its turning back on hit F2 until a configuration screen comes up

3. once it comes up hit F9 then enter

4. then hit F10 and enter again

should start up just fine with the wifi turned back on

Try going to Mcdonald, or any other free wifi spot to Test laptop wifi is still working at all. - check if you push the wifi off/on -to off by mistake. - Update your network card, maybe if all else fail. - If you still don't find a solution, than go to a computer shop and buy a USB NIC (or say USB wifi stick) ~~nothing of USB need to be fancy, $10-20 will do.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

First open CCleaner

Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.

To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:

Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.

Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.

afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.

The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.

If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)

The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).

Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.

Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

For future readers, if none of these helped. You can try what i did.

- Right-click the wifi icon and go to "Network and sharing center"

- choose "Change adapter settings"

- Make sure the wifi is activated, on mine it said it was already activated, so i tried deactivating and activating it again, and that worked.

And i now realize that someone else wrote pretty much the same thing, but im gonna post this anyway.

The easiest way to see if your wifi is turned on, and to turn it on if it is not, is to press Win key-X. This will show you a few features of your laptop in one location. This shortcut only works on laptops.

to add to the other post, you might have to uninstall and reinstall the adapter drivers.

A windows update might have screwed things up, but honestly .... Gateway ? really ?

Next time buy quality - going the cheap route is rarely cheaper in the long run.
