I have a Toshiba laptop - Satallite PSA10A-OY7MP5 -only avalible in Australia.
For some reason the only way I can get sound is by plugging in headphones in
This is the answer I got;
What you may have to do is Reinstall your Sound Card Drivers.

Do you know what Soundcard you have? Go to the Soundcard manufacturers website and download drivers for your Soundcard model.

If you don't know the make and model of Soundcard then go to your PC's manufacturers site and download the Soundcard driver/software for your PC.

The problem is I don't know what Soundcard I have and on the Toshiba site it says I have;
AD1981B AC’97 Software Sound Stereo speakers
http://203.56.127.51/topic/pdf/DOWNLOADS/BROCHURES/SatA10DistPDF-311003-TJ7744_Dist_DS_8.pdf
but nowhere has the drivers and when I downloaded Driver Detective it said;
Sound, video ang game controllers
/
v SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
(it says it is up to date so now i don't why my speakers won't work.)

Running Windows XP / Vista:

-Right click my computer, select properties, and then find the option for device manager.

-Look through the drop down list to find your sound card. (There may have a yellow exclamation mark next to it).

-Right click it and select update driver. and choose to search online for the latest driver.

It may find the latest update, or determine you already have the latest driver.

Hopefully this should sort out your issue, otherwise you should contact Toshiba further.

Best of luck!

If it says it's updated, then it sounds like a speaker problem.

For laptops. the soundcard is made onto the motherboard, so you shouldn't have to download.

Go to device manager & see if there are any hardware conflicts. If no exclamation points or question marks, then the problem is with the speakers.

Good luck. Sounds beyond aggravating!

doesn't sound like a soundcard problem if it's working on your headphones.

right click the volume icon on your taskbar>open volume controls>is the slider bar near the top of the bar on master volume?is the mute button ticked?

it is via the fact they are fairly plugged right into a headphone port. The computing device kills the audio equipment considering that an incredible form of folk shuttle with laptops and it does not make experience to take heed to on your song super loud with headphones on whilst the song is popping out of your audio equipment. there is not possibly a fashion.
