I have a Fujitsu laptop that limits installed RAM to 1GB.
I currently have a 512MB chip installed in SLOT-1 with SLOT-2 empty.
I want to upgrade my laptop from 512MB to 1G.
I went to a local computer store and all they had was 1G modules.
Is it safe to install the 1G module in one of the slots, with the other slot empty? Or is each slot typically limited to MAX RAM (1G) divided by number of slots - 2 (512MB max per slot). Thanks

Your laptop has a TOTAL limit of 1gb? Then each slot is limited to 512mb each. No more.

I am pretty sure it is not a limit 512MB per slot, but 1GB each slot. I am not completely sure though, maybe you should just bring it in and check with your local computer store. If they are unsure and you are still cautious, just wait till they have another 512MB module.

You can only have 1 gb total for the hole motherboard otherwise it'll fry and u will probably have to get a hole new laptop. So you can either find another stick of 512 or just taken the one 512 out and put the 1gb in
