I've recently bought a new laptop and randomly, the brightness drops, and I go through the power options and went up and down, but nothing changes, and also went to the advanced power options and checked on that adaptive brightness thing. And nothing still happened. My new laptop is a lenovo P500 Intel i7 8gb RAM 1TB HardDrive. Please help!

I never post things but this was so easy to correct I had to. I got my answer from Lenovo premium support. You must go to the desktop screen. Next right click on the windows key on the far left bottom of the screen. (The icon that looks like 4 squares). Select device manager. Next select the arrow next to display adapters. (This will list your display adapters). Under my Display adapters, it listed Intel(R) HD Grapics 4000. Double click on this. Another screen will appear listing all adapters. When I did this there were 3 adapters listed. I selected the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (there were 2 of these). I selected the one from the year 2012, that is when I got my laptop. I selected update driver. And like a miracle my screen brightness returned without needing to download anything. I hope this helps. It worked for me.

Hi,

May be your laptop is in power saving mode. So, please check for it as it automatically reduces the brightness.

But I guess that the reduction of brightness is gradual and not drastic. What OS are you using? If win 7, then go into control panel>>>hardware and sounds>>>> click on adjust screen brightness.

If your problem doesn’t solve, call to dell customer care and ask for a replacement, after telling your problem in detail. I had a similar problem for my Office laptop. It was a Sony one. Could not find a solution and so asked for replacement. Almost after 1 and half months of regular correspondence, i got a replacement. I work for DNF security and my IT staff helped me a lot on this issue.
