"Double screen" trouble with laptop screen?

My toshiba satellite laptop is a little glitchy. When i first loaded XP on it, about an inch of the right side of the screen was black; essentially the edge of the screen. When I check off "Extend my Windows desktop onto this screen" it fits it, but it has a double screen effect; a printscreen shows that there's the left side you see (with the windows, task bar, etc), and then the right half that is the background with a bit of black or blue about an inch wide.

I forget how i fixed this the last time, but are there any drivers available for this moniter?

Go into CONTROL PANEL and then DISPLAY

You can change the settings there.

Also try changing THEMES that is also in the display area under control panel.

Another thing you can do is change setting using YOUR MONITOR BUTTONS instead.

If you have a wide screen monitor, choose the next larger size (like 1280 X 600) than your current setting. OR try some of the other sizes to see what fits best. This should extend your screen.

Sounds like XP is trying to use a generic driver for that screen.

Install the proper drivers for that LCD from Toshiba. Should be on the system disk or download from their web site.

Later.
