I am always having a headache about my laptop. It seems that whenever I choose hibernate instead of shut down laptop, when I click on main button again, it is supposed to show the previous state of the pc. Sometimes this works fine but sometimes it appears the windows and then having the black screen and harddisk blinking light. Then, it just autoshut down!

So, I click on the main button again, this may repeats a few times, untill it works fine. If i am lucky, i just restart once, if not, i tried before up to 6 times to use the laptop.

Any expert can tell me what's wrong with my 8 months old Dell Laptop? Is it due to hibernate problem? Vista? or hibernate setting?

Thanks!

there is a high possibility of Hard Drive damage, if checking with the warranty and support services didnt come up with solution or replacement, then simply stop using it, use "Stand By" instead.

* always make sure of the battery and AC charger when dealing with hibernation.

* while on desktop, hit F1 to open the help screen and type Hibernation, check how to disable it

* hibernation requires space on the C drive, always make sure you meet the required space amount

good luck

Hibernate isn't a good thing. Always shut down and then reboot. My computer fails to come back after hibernation so I stopped using it.
