Question:
Can my laptop really be at 205 degrees Fahrenheit?

I have Kubuntu installed on my Dell Inspiron 1545, and I've noticed that when I'm running something that's very processor intensive, the hardware sensors say the temperature is around 205 degrees Fahrenheit. Normally it shows to be running at between 120 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit. My friend tells me that my sensors are broken and that at 205 degrees my BIOS would shut the computer down or begin to melt the plastic. Is this the case, or is it reasonable to say that the laptop is at 205 degrees?

It is possible but if that's the case then you urgently need to examine the heatsink for fluff and dust, and check that the fan is spinning. It's also probably a good idea to replace the thermal paste. 205F/96C is far too hot and this suggests a serious problem with the processor's cooling which will ruin your processor if you don't do something about it.

It is possible that the sensor is wrong, but it is possible the processor could be that hot. Plastic does not melt at 205 degrees.

If the processor is that hot, you're going to burn it out. Is it too hot to put into your lap? That's a sign that your CPI really is getting hot. The difference between 150 and 205 is enough to make the outside of the laptop case much hotter to the touch. I'll save you the physics of heat transfer.

It is possible that there is a built-in fan that comes on when things get too hot, and it is not working.

Get a laptop cooler. Not a passive one. One with a fan.

Try updating the graphics driver. There seems to be a problem with hardware acceleration not enabled in the GPU so the CPU has to work overtime and heats up.

96C is WAY too hot.

45 - 70C is normal.

Clean your fan and ducting. Make sure the fan is working.

Some laptops (like mine) have a mesh-like screen inside the fan exhaust

which can be the very devil to get at. If yours has, make sure it is clear.

u could impressive 24 minus -8 then u do shop exchange exchange and get 24+8 and get 32 deegrees farenhiet it is helpful 32 deegrees by way of fact the tempeture is increasing if it became into lowering it could be negitive
