I know that I can get the recovery disk from the hp.com site for free, but they want $17 or $18 for shipping and tax. I was wondering if there was a place online where I could get those recovery disk for "real" free.

withe the hp and Compaq computers they usually have the boot software pre loaded on the D and sometime it props you to make your own recovery disks from the D drive. if you restart your PC and keep pressing either F12 or F1o ( i forget) if should take you into the reboot mode. make sure if you want to delete everything to select destructive reboot this will make everything the way it was when you brought the PC

$17 - $18 dollars isn't that bad to pay for those recovery disks. If you have your OS disk handy and don't need the extra software from the recovery disks, you can just reinstall Windows.

If you had a friend with the same computer as yours - you could mooch off of them and make a copy. Again IMO $17-$18 dollars isn't that much, $20 would be my limit tho.

A few days ago I discover that most of my computer files were corrupted. I tried to search on Internet for a recovery method, I found a free data recover software called Wondershare Data Recovery and I was able to recover all my lost file very quickly! at this link you can download it http://bit.ly/1qaI154

Compaq Presario... I have a desktop of those and it has Windows XP system recovery on the computer itself when you boot to system recovery.
