My laptop specs are as follow:

Processor : Intel(R) Core(tm) 2 Duo CPU @2.00GHZ 2.00GHZ

RAM Installed Memory 1 GB

32 bit operating system

Running on windows 7

So I don't want it lightning quick but atleast as quick it was for the first year when I bought this...

Now even while browsing I need to wait for refresh tab when ever I right click, when I open up new tab it takes few seconds but if there is movie playing or downloading some big file it takes minutes, sometimes even get hangs & I need to kill window then.

Also this start to happens after each 2,3 days after I install new window.

HELP

Definitely upgrade at least to another 1 GB of RAM. If possible, even get a 2 GB memory stick to make a total of 3. (If you get 2x2GB sticks of RAM, Windows can only see up to 3.x GB, so it's a little overkill).

Other things to help it run faster is to kill any startup programs you have when you startup, either by the apps settings, entering MSCONFIG from the command line, or just uninstalling apps altogether. 1GB is very little amount of RAM and programs will eat it up quick.

Along those lines, remove any unneeded garbage apps! Such as toolbars, screensaver apps, etc. Windows has good enough features for that built-in.

Also (and here's the biggest thing I've noticed as a tech), if you're big on surfing those "sketchy" sites (torrents, porn, etc.), you're bound to get malware which is the worst type of slowness because sometimes it tries to hide in your system. In that case, either try to get it all removed (antivirus, malware remover, etc), or just re-image your system (or system restore, if provided). Should revert your OS back to it's factory settings.

Like Jakub said, format and installation of windows often gives it a little more pep. I'd suggest another gb of ram. Also something to take into consideration is that harddrives do slow down after a while. You may never be able to get you computer running like new with your current harddrive. If you find that a re-installtion of windows doesn't do the trick it may be time to replace/upgrade your harddrive. SSD's are really fast (but come with a price tag... In my opinion worth

it).

FORMAT YOUR HDD/SSD.
