Help! The latest Windows 7 Updated ruined my Netbook!?

Windows updates have been requested every time I start my netbook up, which I was told was normal, since there are many updates between the shipping of a computer and its arrival at your door. So, I've been dutifully allowing my computer to restart with the updates.

But the latest update has totally upset the balance of my computer! My external hard drive isn't recognized (a one terrabyte external hard drive that I've never had any trouble with before and is recognized by my PC without problems) and Windows Explorer keeps freezing up (Not Responding).

My boyfriend says the latest update had sone this to his laptop as well. Are there other people having the same problem? Is there a way to remove the update until there is a new, bug-free update available? I need this computer for school, and I can't even get to my textbooks and notes that are on my external hard drive except through my home tower!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If it is of any importance, I use JAWS 11.0, a screenreader for teh blind. I have Windows 7 and the netbook is brand new (I have had it for only two weeks now). It has software for a printer, scanner, Braille embosser (like a printer, basically), Duxbury braille translator, OpenBook scanning program, and an external USB 4-way splitter.

First, run CHKDSK C: /F from the run prompt, schedule the scan and reboot. Then run SFC /SCANNOW from the run prompt and reboot if needed.

Then:

Control Panel > Programs and features Click View Installed Updates (top left), then sort by install date and remove bad update...

If that doesn't help, then try a system restore to the point before the update was installed. Any major changes made by the Windows Update service, a restore point is made first.

Go to your Control Panel.

Open the "Programs and Features" control panel.

Click on 'View Installed Updates"

Here it will list all of the installed updates. You can sort them by the date they were installed. Any updated that can be removed will allow you to do so here.

Good luck.

Couple of opportunities, each and each autonomous of the others: - computer screen colour temperature—some video reveal gadgets can regulate for various ambient lighting fixtures settings, or possibly a particular "colour temperature" - The replace reset a utility-set gamma placing. Gamma controls how RGB values are translated to truly intensities of seen gentle. abode windows and Mac have their very own "colour calibration" techniques. - you ought to set colour profiles. in many situations, sRGB is nice adequate for a computer screen and Photoshop, yet you will choose a particular one for any colour printer you have. - Bum cable - (unlikely) Your reveal driving force isn't in authentic colour (24/32-bit colour) mode. this might take place if the right reveal driving force is going lacking and the OS motels to its fallback familiar driving force.
